What is CyberBullying?

cyber bullying is not a new phenomenon of course. it came to the spotlight in the case of megan myers. who was a 13year old girl who committed suicide after receiving hurtful messages from who she thought was a boy. Turns out it was the mother of megan's former friend who did the harassment.

this is an extreme case. Cyberbullies can also ruin people's reputations online, expose personal information and endanger someone's life.

Some people think its a hobby and don't realize the consequences of their actions online. There is also a phenomenon called de-personalization that people tend to experience online because it is such an anonymous environment.

What is CyberBullying?

"Cyberbullying is the use of e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, pagers, cell phones, or other forms of information technology to deliberately harass, threaten, or intimidate someone"

Definition of Cyberbulling, from Wikipedia [cyberbullying]:
"Cyber-bullying can be as simple as continuing to send e-mail to someone who has said they want no further contact with the sender, but it may also include threats, sexual remarks, pejorative labels (i.e., hate speech), ganging up on victims by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, and posting false statements as fact aimed at humiliation."

There are many similarities between these basic definitions of cyberbullying above and the Trevor Rieger website. Let me outline them briefly:

1. The UtubeDrama is a website. it is based on purely opinionated remarks aimed at degrading character, ridiculing youtube users and the use of hate speech.

2. the Utube Drama site owner Trolls the youtube site to choose specific targets. He then writes slanderous words, insults and sexual remarks about everyone and anyone he chooses to target

3. he has been a disruptive 'force' for youtube users who do not want to be trolled and harassed by this cyberbully known as Trevor Rieger.

4. Trevor Rieger also targets children and under 18 youtube users. making fun of them and saying some very hurtful and humiliating remarks.
